About The Orchestra

The Musicians’ Initiative (formerly TYMFO, The Young Musicians’ Foundation Orchestra) is a Singaporean orchestra whose mission is to nurture and develop the artistic growth of Singapore’s pre-professional orchestral musicians (instrumentalists, composers, and conductors), by providing for them the platform to smoothly transition into the professional music industry. MI envisions being Singapore’s next professional homegrown orchestra, locally formed for Singapore.

MI continues to nurture and develop the next generation of talented music makers in their pursuit of professional excellence; providing Singapore’s next generation of orchestral musicians who are currently preparing for a professional orchestral career with pre-professional experiences and performing opportunities, and orchestral conducting opportunities. Alongside this, TYMFO aims to cultivate an appreciation for orchestral music locally, by educating our audiences through our musical endeavours.

The Orchestra’s Tagline: “Your Experience” aspires to prioritize the holistic experience of each of our audience by continuing to include unique productions that boldly cross the norms in today’s Classical Music concerts. Through our performances, we redefine the meaning of orchestral music in Singapore.
